our mission
BASIC is a worship community that exists to unite people in the name of Jesus and invite them to join in the work he is doing to bless a broken world. All are welcome.
our values
We value authentic relationships, unity, leadership development, and compelling worship.
Authentic Relationships
Relationships are the backbone of our ministry—not just with others, but with God, yourself, and the rest of creation. Jesus led by being friends with people, and we believe he’s called us to do the same.
Unity
We believe diversity and unity go hand-in-hand. God created us all in his image—to be different, and to also be one. We believe His Church is much bigger than BASIC alone, and we welcome joining hands in all areas of life.
Leadership Development
God created us all with unique gifts and asks us to use them for His Kingdom! We prioritize offering opportunities for people to lead using their gifts—practicing the servant leadership Jesus called us into.
Compelling Worship
Whether through music, serving others, or using our gifts, we worship God because of all he’s done and will do for us. We seek to worship God through all parts of our lives in a way that is powerfully irresistible.

FAQs
When does BASIC meet?
We meet as a community every Thursday at 7:30pm while the University of Northern Iowa is in session. Sometimes friends just meet together anytime—we’re big fans of that!

What are Life Groups?
Life Groups are small groups of up to 12 people that meet weekly to read the Bible together, eat meals together, pray together, serve together, and just hang out. It’s a great space to ask hard questions and a trusted place to share hard things. Beyond that, Life Groups become what people make them to be—hopefully friendships form and members support one another through all of life.

What if I’m new to church?
We can’t wait to meet you! There are no requirements or prerequisites you have to meet—and you definitely don’t have to believe in Jesus to join us. Our goal is to know you and be a blessing to you as you figure things out, not to convert you into a specific set of beliefs. Get Connected →
